We're Laura Duksta, author and Karen Keesler, illustrator. Karen's love of people and the planet has us call her "Hippie". Laura lost all of her hair at the age of 11, to a condition called Alopecia Areata, earning her the name "The Bald Chick". Together we've come to be known as...
"Hippie and The Bald Chick".
I Love You More (ILYM) was an answer to a prayer. Laura believes it was written so that all children might know, that no matter what's going on in their world or the world around them how truly loved they are. We're on a mission to generate the conversation of love around the world and enjoy doing this by sharing our book and it's message as well as visiting schools, churches, organizations and women's groups.
Originally self-published, under I Shine Inc, at the end of 2001 it's now sold nearly 350,000 copies. In 2007, we teamed up with Sourcebooks and their children's imprint Jabberwocky. Together we've landed I Love You More on the New York Times Bestsellers list 3 times! This continues to be a great partnership that will release Laura's next book in March 2011, You are a Gift to the World (flip) The World is a Gift to You.
ILYM is now available in English, Korean and Hebrew as well as in its orignal gift book format and now as a baby board book. In 2009 the board book sold out immediately of its first 2 printings!
