About the Illustrator: Karen Keesler
Karen earned her nickname “Hippie” because of her passion and love for humanity and the planet. She is an avid vegetarian, recycler and gardener who loves to meditate and surf. She excelled in art as a student but like so many put her dreams aside for a time to pursue a real job. She has now rediscovered her artistic ability. She is also a professional photographer. Karen has a natural ability to capture the love and magic of people and the planet in her photographs and illustrations.
Karen was born and raised in Miami. She moved away from home several times to New Mexico, Colorado and New York but as her mom likes to share “like a homing pigeon” she always returned to the warmth and beach of South Florida. She is now eagerly awaiting the birth of her first child with her beloved Fernie this April ? She knows now more than ever how important it is to take care of our planet so that we have a magnificent place for our children to live in! She is involved in many local projects to help turn the planet Green.
